A Herd of Ostriches Discusses Activism in the Animal Kingdom
Hey Critter Lovers!
What if animals had a say in the decisions that impact their lives? What if, instead of making assumptions, we listened to them directly?
In my latest video, I had the opportunity to communicate with a herd of ostriches caught in the middle of a controversial cull in British Columbia. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency ordered the culling of nearly 400 ostriches after an avian flu outbreak, but the farm owners challenged the decision in court. Now, as the legal battle unfolds, these ostriches have something to say—and their message goes far beyond their own survival.
The ostriches expressed a powerful activist energy, highlighting how animals are often sacrificed due to human fears and a lack of direct communication. They shared insights on advocacy, the importance of including nature’s voice in decision-making, and how activism isn’t just a human endeavor—it’s happening in the animal kingdom, too.
Watch the full video to hear the ostriches’ perspective on their situation, their thoughts on activism, and how we can all play a role in shifting the way we relate to the natural world.
What do you think about the ostriches’ message? Let me know in the comments!
