Lizards in the Permian Basin Ponder Survival and Sustainability

Hey Critter Lovers!

The dunes sagebrush lizards of the Permian Basin have something to say about their newly endangered status, the ongoing legal battle over their habitat, and what they believe could be a win-win solution for both energy production and ecological balance. I had the opportunity to connect with these tiny but strategic desert dwellers, and they shared some surprising insights. While the legal fight continues between conservation groups, government agencies, and the oil industry, the lizards have their own perspective: they’re not opposed to innovation, but they do want a seat at the table (or, more accurately, a burrow in the sand).

The Lizard Perspective: A Strategic Approach to Survival

According to the dunes sagebrush lizards, setting up a home in the shifting sands of the Permian Basin is no small feat. Every burrow is carefully placed to maximize shade, safety, and access to resources. They’ve mastered the art of survival in an environment where resources seem scarce—but now, that delicate balance is being disrupted. The oil drilling, habitat destruction, and sand mining for fracking have made it harder for the lizards to navigate their world. But here’s where things get interesting: the lizards don’t see this as an unsolvable conflict. Instead, they believe there’s room for collaboration.

A Call for Communication and Cooperation

The lizards had a clear message: talk to us. They believe that if oil companies, conservationists, and policymakers engaged with them, they could help develop sustainable and ecologically friendly energy solutions. After all, lizards are natural problem-solvers—finding water in the desert, adapting to extreme conditions, and working within the land’s limitations. They want industries to consider more creative, less destructive approaches. Could their insights inspire better land management strategies? Could their survival tactics lead to innovations in energy sustainability? The lizards think so.

In my latest YouTube video, I dive deeper into my telepathic conversation with the dunes sagebrush lizards, exploring their thoughts on the endangered species listing, the legal battle, and the future of their habitat. 🔗 Watch the video here:

This is a conversation about more than just one species—it’s about the relationship between industry, conservation, and the often-overlooked intelligence of nature itself. If the lizards are willing to collaborate, maybe we should be too.

What are your thoughts? Should industries and policymakers start listening to the species they impact? Let’s discuss in the comments! 🦎💬
